Big Issue Invest (BII) has two
loan funds. The Loan Fund is open to established social enterprises
and trading arms of registered charities and provides loans from £50,000
to £250,000. The Social Enterprise Investment Fund (SEIF) provides
growth capital to social enterprises that have a clear social purpose,
strong management and can demonstrate financial sustainability as well as
growth potential. This will be in the form of equity, quasi-equity and
debt investments. SEIF minimum investment size is expected to be £100,000
and maximum £500,000. It focuses on five core areas:

CAFOD Development Education

CAFOD is the official overseas
development and relief agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.
Their Development Education Fund supports groups and organisations
involved in global justice education work in these areas. They fund
innovation and risk, supporting education and campaigning work where
CAFOD doesnt have the resources to reach.
Grants are offered at two levels.
Large Grants
are for more than £3,000 (average grant
£5,000-£10,000) and provide Project funding or Core funding (for
organisations with a long-standing core relationship / close synergy with
CAFOD). Small Grants
are for less than £3,000 and have no deadline - decisions usually made
within six weeks.
Applicants must demonstrate
involvement of beneficiaries in the project or organisation and be able to
provide evidence that there is demand or need for the work and it is not
duplicating the efforts of other groups or organisations.

Equitable Charitable Trust (UK)

The Trust supports projects for children and young
people (up to 25 yrs old) who are from disadvantaged backgrounds or
disabled. Most projects funded take place in the UK (local / regional),
but national projects and overseas projects (developing countries only,
grants made through UK registered charity) are also supported. Projects
must fit one or more of these priorities:

Education projects / services that support learning
and development of disabled children and young people in the UK

Formal education projects for disadvantaged
children and young people in the UK that support delivery of National
Curriculum or deliver accredited vocational learning that will increase
employability

Education projects that will help increase
participation in, or improve the quality of, education for disadvantaged
or disabled children and young people in developing countries
Most grants are £5,000 - £20,000, £10,000 maximum per
annum for multi-year. Salaries for posts not directly related to service
delivery and capital expense that will only partly be used for eligible
purposes / beneficiaries will not be funded.

The National Council for Voluntary
Youth Services (NCVYS) Young Partners Award 2010 are now open for
nominations. The Award is sponsored by Participation Works (a consortium
made up of six national children and young peoples agencies), the Big
Lottery Fund and PGL (a provider of school trips and children's adventure
holidays). It is a celebration of young peoples involvement in decision
making within VCS youth organisations or projects. It provides an
opportunity for such organisations/projects to demonstrate what young
people and adults can achieve through working in partnership, sharing
ideas and inspiring each other.
Nominations are short-listed in
five geographical categories (North, South, National, London, Midlands).
Winners receive a £500 small grant towards developing a youth
participation project, an activity day away at a PGL centre, a years free
NCVYS membership and promotional opportunities (list not exhaustive).

Dept. for International Development (DFID)
is inviting applications for a new round of Programme Partnership
Arrangements (PPA) funding. PPAs are
strategic level arrangements, providing flexible support to those best
able to demonstrate real impact on poverty reduction and a clear fit with
DFID values/priorities. This round will have strong emphasis on
organisational results, outcomes and impact. There
will be two types of PPA.
General will focus on DFID
priorities, CSH on Conflict, Security and Justice and
Humanitarianism priorities. £20m is ear marked for CSH, but this kind of
work can be included in a General (CSH is
recommended for large programmes of work or where an organisation is lead
in a particular policy area).

solutions that will make a lasting difference to our ageing population.
30 Start-Up Awards are available
of up to £2,500 to get ideas off the ground. 3 Development Awards
of up to £15,000 will also be offered to 3 UnLtd Engage Award
Winners to grow and replicate their ideas. Awards include support. They
are especially interested in receiving applications from people aged 50+.
They are looking for ideas that
could improve social issues faced by older people in the community and
that fall within one or more of these themes:

Inspiring self-belief and
wellbeing (including ageing well, health & safety and keeping active)

Making the most of opportunities
(including planning for change, work and volunteering)

Valuing shared wisdom and experience
(including reducing isolation and building positive perceptions and
relationships)
