National Lottery Awards 2008 (UK)

The National Lottery Awards are an annual search to find the UK's favourite Lottery-funded projects. The Awards aim to recognise the difference that Lottery-funded projects - both large and small - have made to people, places and communities, all across the UK. They also celebrate the talent, hard work and dedication of the people involved in running Lottery-funded projects.

This year, the Awards are in seven categories that reflect the different types of projects that benefit from Lottery funding.

The categories are:

  • Best Arts Project.

  • Best Education Project.

  • Best Environment Project.

  • Best Health Project.

  • Best Heritage Project.

  • Best Sports Project.

The Woman Magazine Award for Best Charity/Voluntary Project.

The winning project in each category will win a cash prize of £2,000 to spend on the project. The Awards are also a great way to raise awareness of your project and the difference it makes to your community, as well as the people that benefit from it. The National Lottery Awards team works closely with local, regional and national media to promote the Awards and the projects involved, and the winners of each category will be announced on a special BBC1 show.

To register with the Awards and submit an online entry form visit:
www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards/submitentry/

You can also nominate a Lottery-funded project for an Award by telephoning:
0845 130 4133.

! Entries must be submitted by 5pm on Thursday 20 March. !

The entries will be assessed by an independent body called Lottery Monitor, which has the job of monitoring the use of Lottery funding. An independent judging panel will then consider the entries, and shortlist 10 projects in each category to go through to the first round of public voting. This first round of public voting will run from 16 June to 4 July, with voting available online and by telephone.

The three projects in each category with the most votes will progress to the final round, which will run from 21 July to 8 August.

The votes are reset to zero for the final round of public voting, and the winners will be announced on a special BBC1 show in the autumn.

These are hoaxes and organisations are advised never reply to such emails or give out any personal details or money in response.
