FINE researches potential sources of funding for the voluntary and community sector in the North East of England and keeps organisations informed of funding opportunities via:

Support to Funding Advisers

FINE supports Funding Advisers working in LDAs throughout the North East. This support includes;

  • Facilitating bi-monthly meetings of the Funding Advice Workers Network. These meetings encourage Funding Advisers to:

    • share information

    • support one another

    • share best practice

 as well as offering them the opportunity to meet funders.

  • Funding Advice Quality Standards programme;

  • First Steps for a New Funding Adviser – an induction manual providing guidance and information on resources available (cost - £22.00 inc p&p).

  • Mentoring and Support programme for new funding advisers.

  • Giving Funding Advice training course – a 60 hour NEOCN, level 3, accredited training course.

  • Continuing Professional Development workshops.

 

First Steps for a New Funding Advice Worker

This popular induction pack developed by Funding Information North East in response to the need for information and guidance by funding advice workers in England has been expanded and updated.

 

It aims to share good practice with new and unsupported workers, develop skills and knowledge and provide a sound foundation on which to build your own funding advice service.
 

The 2nd edition includes information covering:

  • Sources of funding support

  • The role of a funding advice worker

  • Information sources relevant to the post

  • Tips on organisational practice

  • Methods of giving funding advice

  • What you need to know

  • Training

The publication provides information and guidance for new funding advice workers on how to get started in their new role.
